Facundo Manes

He was born in Quilmes and spent his childhood and adolescence in Arroyo Dulce and Salto. He then moved to Buenos Aires to study medicine at the public university. After completing his neurology residency, he pursued further training abroad with a firm commitment to return to Argentina to develop local resources in cognitive neuroscience, cognitive neurology, and neuropsychiatry. He lived, studied, and worked in the United States, where he received the Young Investigator Award from the American Neuropsychiatric Association, and in England, where he earned his doctorate in Science from the University of Cambridge. Upon returning to Argentina, he founded INECO (Institute of Cognitive Neurology) and the Neuroscience Institute of the Favaloro Foundation. He is a professor at Favaloro University (Argentina), the University of California, San Francisco, the Medical University of South Carolina (United States), and Macquarie University (Australia). He is a consultant for the Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, Medical Research Council, University of Cambridge, and a researcher at CONICET and the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders. He is the president of the INECO Foundation. He has traveled the world several times as an invited speaker at various international forums and has published more than two hundred scientific contributions in the most prestigious journals in his field such as Brain, JAMA Neurology, Nature Human Behaviour, Neurology, The Lancet Neurology and Nature Neuroscience.
